VOCABULARY UNIT 2

1.-The big cheese: is the most important person in a group or organization.
2.-Chalk and cheese: weuse this expression to define two peopl who are very different to each other.
3.-A little bird told me: if yo have some information but you donot want to reveal who told you, them you use this expression.
4.-To be or to have a big mouth: it means you talk to much especially about things which should be keot in secret or avoided.
5.-All the colours of the rainbow: it means it is very colourful.
6.-Chasing rainbows: refers to someone who is always looking for something more excitin and rewarding but it is unlikely to find it.
7.-If you are playing with fire: you are doing something which could be dangerous.
8.-If you add fuel to the fire: it means you make a bad situation even worse.
9.-Lost of words:
10.-If you have a flash of inspiration it meanstaht you get a sudden idea that help you create or achieve what were hopind to do.
11.-A big fish in a small pond: if we describe someone with this expression, it means that he/she is very important or have a lot of influence but only in a small area or group.
12.-Cold fish: if someone is described with this expresion, it means that he/she is unfriendly and doens't show his/her feelings or emotions.
13.-Packed like sardines: to describe people who arein a very crowded space.
14.-Chock a block: example: the streets are chock a block with cars today.
15.-Like a duck to the water: it means that you discover when you star doing a new activity that you are very good at it.
16.-If you blow your own trumpet, you are boasting about your achievements and abilities.
17.-If you have a bee in you bonet about something, you are obssessed with it and can't stop thinking about it.
18.-It's in someone's genes: when that person has the same personality traits as their parents, or does a similar job.
19.-You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours: means if you do something for me, I'll do somethingfor youespecially, if it is something you would not have been able to do for yourself.
20.-If you say someone does not have a hair out of place it means their appearance is very tidy or is perfect.
